Gentamicin is an antibiotic that helps prevent or eliminate bacterial contamination in cell and tissue cultures. It is effective against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Gentamicin sulfate works by binding to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, which disrupts bacterial protein synthesis. Gentamicin sulfate is available in 10mg/ml and 50mg/ml solutions.
