Medium 199 was developed for the cultivation of non-transformed cells and is widely used in virology, vaccine production, and the in vitro culture of primary explants, particularly from mouse pancreatic epithelial tissue. This formulation, prepared with Earle’s salts, contains L-glutamine and 1.25 g/L sodium bicarbonate. For optimal cell growth, Phoenix Scientific recommends supplementing the medium with 10% fetal bovine serum.

Uses:
Addition of 10% of Fetal Bovine Serum in the medium is recommended.

Signs of Deterioration:
The medium should be clear and free of particulate and flocculent material. Do not use if the medium is cloudy or contains precipitate. Other evidence of deterioration may include degradation of physical or performance characteristics.

The product is intended to be used in vitro for research or further manufacturing only and not for use as an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient or food or animal feed.
