Pyruvate is the end product of the glycolysis pathway, where glucose is metabolized to generate ATP. Sodium pyruvate, typically added to cell culture media at a concentration of 100 mM (11 g/L), serves as an additional energy source alongside glucose. Its inclusion in the medium can support and enhance cell proliferation.
