Medium 199 was specifically developed for the culture of non-transformed cells. It is widely employed in virology, vaccine production, and the in vitro culture of primary explants, particularly from mouse pancreatic epithelial tissue. This formulation, prepared with Hanks’ salts, includes L-glutamine. Phoenix Scientific recommends supplementing the medium with 10% fetal bovine serum for optimal performance.

Signs of Deterioration:
The medium should be clear and free of particulate and flocculent material. Do not use if the medium is cloudy or contains precipitate. Other evidence of deterioration may include degradation of physical or performance characteristics.
