Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) is one of the most widely used media for cell culture and has proven effective in supporting the growth of a broad range of normal and transformed cell types. It is formulated with Earle’s Balanced Salts, making it well-suited for use in CO2-enriched incubator environments. The medium also contains L-glutamine to support cellular metabolism.

Uses:Supplements, such as antibiotics, should be added as sterile supplements to the medium. Storage conditions and shelf-life of supplemented product will be affected by the nature of the supplements. Sterile serum should not be refiltered before or after being added to sterile medium because growth promoting capacity may be reduced upon re-filtration.
Signs of Deterioration:The medium should be clear and free of particulate and flocculent material. Do not use if the medium is cloudy or contains precipitate. Other evidence of deterioration may include degradation of physical or performance characteristics.
The product is intended to be used in vitro for research or further manufacturing only and not for use as an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient or food or animal feed.
